The controversy triggered by Laura Pausini de's performance has not yet died down The Song of the Italiansbetter known as Brothers of Italy, Mameli's Hymn or Anthem of Italy, as part of the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina, which was broadcast worldwide last Friday 6 February. A performance, from the lawn of the San Siro stadium in Milan, which divided public opinion and also many professionals.
His fault, or for others his merit? Having changed the arrangement of the music composed by Michele Novaro in 1847 (the lyrics instead are by Goffredo Mameli) and having added some personal trills. The comments on social media, a week later, are countless. And they range from the enthusiastic ones: “Spectacular performance”, “everyone with their hand on their heart” or even “she ate Mariah Carey” (another musical guest of the Ceremony). To the most merciless: “Disney version of Mameli”, “did she take any cues?”, up to the mockery: “She has that rare ability that belongs only to her to ruin every cover and make it seem Loneliness also theAnthem of Italy”.
Today, however, Vasco Rossi took to the field in his defense. The rocker from Zocca, in an Instagram story, defended the singer from Solarolo and sent a message to all those who criticize her: “I would add that Pausini sang the National Anthem impeccably. With the vocal variations, allowed by her great talent and which an international artist like her had the right and duty to do. And everyone go fuck yourselves!!”
