Two opportunities to be fascinated by those unique soundscapes and those memorable melodies that have always characterized the sound world of the Copenhagen-based composer, who presents the new album “Dreamweaver” live.
It was a slow and gradual metamorphosis that led Anders Trentemøller from the minimal electronics of his early days to the eclectic and increasingly less digital sound terrains in which he moves today, an evolution managed with notable clarity of intent, relying on a natural propensity to constantly contaminate and expand their musical horizons. And if something in terms of originality was lost along the way, the dominant emotional rate was the master, injected into a dark substratum in which dream-pop, shoegaze and darkwave effectively interpenetrate.
“Dreamweaver” fits coherently into this trail, starting from all the intuitions previously developed starting from “Lost” and presenting itself – unlike the previous “Memoria” – essentially as a record of songs, with a single instrumental track. It is DìSA's ethereal voice that stands out in the foreground, the perfect protagonist of captivating electropop structures (above all the title track), wave tirades strongly indebted to Robert Smith and his associates – just listen to the keyboards of “Behind My Eyes” borrowed from “Disintegration” to grasp the homage – and dreamy drifts that take us back to the dreamlike sweetness of Lynch's Julee Cruise (“Hollow” ).
The ten tracks reveal the entire range of musical passions of the Danish musician – the Joy Division suggestion in the pressing “In A Storm” is evident – and offer some unexpected openings, such as the acoustic declination ofopener “A Different Light”.
With more than two decades of activity behind him and over 500 shows all over the world, Trentemøller is therefore preparing to captivate the Italian public again accompanied on stage by his band. In fact, his synths will be joined by those of Disa Jakobs, who will also be on vocals and guitar, Silas Tinglef on drums and guitar, Brian Batz on guitar and Jacob Haubjerg on bass.
