Thundercat returns live to Italy for a single date on Thursday 5 March at Alcatraz in Milan. Tickets on sale on DICE.
An unmissable event in which to listen live as a preview, in the first stage of the European tour, Distractedthe fifth album by the prodigious American multi-instrumentalist out on April 3rd via Brainfeeder.
Exactly six years after his last jobthe Los Angeles artist is preparing to return with an album produced by the award-winning artist Greg Kurstin (Adele, Paul McCartney, Sia, Beyoncé, Beck) together with Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats And The Lemon Twigs, and which boasts collaborations with extraordinary artists:da A$AP Rocky(who recently invited him to perform with him on Saturday Night Live) ai Tame Impalafrom Lil Yachty to Channel Tres And WILLOW until his death MacMiller.
Anticipated by the individual Did This To Myself ft. Lil Yachtywith Distracted Thundercat turns his gaze towards the frenzy of Drunk and the solemn melancholy of It Is What It Islooking for a comfortable space for one's conscience. Instead of condemning the present, the album traverses and analyzes it, addressing the ways in which distraction can be both an obstacle and a form of healing. In an age that demands constant commentary, Thundercat offers something quieter and, in its own way, more radical: it gives permission to be confused, to be tired, to be — precisely — distracted, and still manage to create something beautiful from the noise. Ultimately, what Thundercat would like audiences to take away with them after listening to Distracted it's simple: «Enjoy it and have fun, and know that the struggle is real and it changes shape, but you have to keep moving forward.”.
Thundercatat the registry office Stephen Bruneris a multi-instrumentalist, singer and bassist born in Los Angeles in 1984, recognized as one of the most influential figures on the contemporary music scene. Raised in a tradition where technique and discipline were core values – his father was a drummer and brother Ronald Bruner Jr. played with everyone from Kamasi Washington to Snoop Dogg – his early years also included a stint in the metal band Suicidal Tendenciesan experience that sharpened his sense of structure and simultaneously broadened his sonic spectrum. When he finally emerged as a solo artist in the early 2010s, his music carried all that history: the complexity of jazz fusion, the elasticity of funk, the intimacy of hip hop and a sense of humor decidedly born of the internet age.
In 2011 he began a successful solo career with albums The Golden Age of Apocalypsepublished the same year, Apocalypse (2013), Drunk (2017) e It Is What It Is (2020), winner of a Grammys in the category Best Progressive R&B Album.
A prodigious talent, considered one of the greatest bass players in the world, his unique art has totaled over 3.3 billion streams. He is an artist capable of winning the Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival for his contribution to jazz and, at the same time, creating songs that are very popular on social networks, including Funny Thing, Dragonball Durag And ThemChangeswhich recently generated 7 billion views and over 3 million pieces of content – the latter song re-entering the Billboard and Shazam charts in 30 countries.
In 2024, Thundercat has conquered Dover Street Market in London with a Spring/Summer capsule collection created in collaboration with the historic concept store. He also made his acting debut for Disney in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett (2021), he voiced Grune the Destroyer in ThunderCats Roar (2020, Warner Bros.) and performed on the show Yo Gabba Gabbaland.
Very comfortable playing with them Spinal Tap al Jimmy Kimmel Live! and in Tiny Desk Concert on NPR, as well as on Colbert and Fallon's programs, or on the GRAMMY stage with Steve LacyThundercat is an artist who escapes any category. Beloved by people as diverse as Barack Obama and Kim Kardashian, its impact on popular culture has been quietly disruptive. He has collaborated with artists of the caliber of Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, Childish Gambino, HAIM, SZA, Stevie Wonder, Kaytranada, Justice, Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams And Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak).
