The death of at least 98 people was confirmed after the collapse of a disco in the Dominican Republic. Among the victims also the baseball players of the MLB Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco and the famous Merengue singer Rubby Pérez who was performing on the stage of the Santo Domingo jet set when the ceiling of the restaurant collapsed by collapsing on the audience in the room.
Over 160 people injured, but the number could increase since there are over 400 rescuers who have been working on Monday night from the moment of tragedy (which took place on Monday night).
“We assume that many of them are still alive, and that's why the authorities will not surrender here until even a person under the rubble will remain,” said Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Center for emergency operations.
