Even the cast of The White Lotus were on the edge of their seat as the show's highly-anticipated third season unfolded on set. Natasha Rothwell, who will reprise her role as Belinda from season one when the anthology series returns in February, couldn't believe what she was seeing as she was on set watching it happen.
“I would be on set, even when it wasn't my day shooting, just to watch the magic unfold,” Rothwell recently told Entertainment Weekly. “And I would be gagged — as if I hadn't already read all the scripts! I'd be like, 'Oh, shit.' I really do think that this season is magic. That's the only word.”
Rothwell is the only one The White Lotus cast member who will be making a return from a previous season. The rest of the lineup for season three is made up of a slate of newcomers in the world of Mike White's comedy-drama. Walton Goggins, Leslie Bibb, Blackpink's Lisa, Parker Posey, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, and Jason Isaacs will all join the show.
“The tension has been unbearable, honestly,” Rothwell said. “My hairdresser, the cab driver, people have been shaking me down for information, and I'm just like, 'I've signed my life away. I can't tell you anything.'”
Rothwell's character, Belinda, managed the spa at the White Lotus location in Maui during the show's first season. This time around, she's heading to Thailand — not as an overworked employee, but as a guest. According to the official teaser trailer, Belinda makes the move as part of an exchange program.
“She's still working at the White Lotus, and she's in Thailand doing sort of an exchange program to learn more about the wellness programs that the Thailand White Lotus offers,” Rothwell teased. “She's going to be a guest for the first time, even though she's taking classes and it's a work trip. She's staying at the hotel, which is something that she hasn't done before, and so we get to see her really dip her toe in the other side of life of the upstairs/downstairs of White Lotus.”
The White Lotus returns on Feb. 16.
