Video interview with Brig who returns to music with a new single, Dreamerswhich is a song dedicated to his partner Ariadne with whom he shared years of life, experiences, joys, pains, any aspect of everyday life.
A single who anticipates a year full of things, the most important of which will undoubtedly be the birth of their firstborn in April but which, on the work front, will be equally full of things to do and carry forward.
To our microphones Brig he told many things about his hectic and intense life but all the dialogue started from the end, that is, from Dreamers. What do you want to convey with this song?
“The piece begins with an autobiographical story because the first verse is set in Rome, with Ari on Via del Corso. After shopping with her at H&M, on the way back to the car we stop in front of the Fendi windows.
Arianna doesn't enter these high fashion shops but she stopped to look at a shirt while I noticed that I was looking at the two of us in the reflection of the Fendi windows with the H&M bags and this paradox struck me a lot, I liked it and I decided to start the song like this.
We continue in London and I wrote the second verse in a delicate and uncertain moment after having declared that I had had some small problems in the conception of what will be our little girl.
Dreamers because we have never stopped believing in our dreams and what our desires for realization are“
From the “deep red” to the greatest joy
Since you mentioned the topic, can you tell us about this path from deep psychological red to this greater joy?
“If I look back we were good, we always kept the compass north of the relationship putting ourselves at the centre. As long as we were us it was right to live for ourselves, every now and then the thought came and the trips served to distract us a bit.
It's not true that it's a black hole that lasted for years, ours is a story of laughter and complicity but with this little pain that accompanied us for a few years.
Thank God, from further investigation we understood that the problem was fortunately not serious. The 'request' simply remained unanswered for a long time“
What will he tell his daughter
What will you tell your daughter about this period?
“I'll tell her that she was born before she was born. Both Ari and I have a dreamlike vision of life, we think that children choose their parents and not the other way around. This makes you understand how we live it”
Life, work and priorities
Yours is a happy relationship with even a podcast in which you talk about each other. Where are you best? Podcasts, music, many things but what is the priority list?
“I put my life first before work and everything and I can tell you that I paid for it in my career. I chose to live in Rome and here those three palaces of music don't even have a detachment.
I found a balance with the things that interest me such as sport, my football passion for Lazio. It's important to go out with friends, on my scooter in my neighborhood and experience things that can only be experienced in this city.
For me it is very important to travel and enjoy the free time that I have earned with my ideas. I don't trade my freedom with anyone in the world“
Moving for work
As a couple, have you ever considered, from a work perspective, moving permanently and away from Rome?
“Yes but not in Milan. I like it but it's not my city, it's profoundly different from Rome and it's not a reality that I embrace naturally. I come there to work every now and then but at a certain point I want to return to my home.
Arianna is an actress and for her work it is better to be in Rome and I thought it would be easier for me to be a musician in Rome than for her to be an actress in Milan“
Cinema and the audition with Paolo Virzì
Have you ever thought about or has she ever convinced you to become an actor?
“Once, Paolo Virzì's assistant called me in London and told me that he had noticed some talents and wanted to give me an audition.
Back in Rome I go to his house to do the audition and he tells me he had a script. I asked him straight away and he tells me I'm a born actor. I thought it was a joke but he was serious.
The role he proposed to me didn't identify me very much and if I have to be on the big screen I would like to have an identifying role.
I had to be a slave and I didn't like this so we both decided not to do it but I have wonderful memories of this day“
Singers and acting
In recent days we have learned about your colleagues who will become actresses and actors. The two worlds are becoming more and more united, what do you think?
“I think that everyone should do their own thing and that by continuing to call these people, famous in their profession, it can become a problem for those who have studied and based their life on this passion.
I've seen Elodie every now and then, she's good at acting but to make films it's better to look for someone who has studied to do this job.
I'm not saying this to belittle her but because everyone has to do their own job and we are much more attached to popularity. We have a long history of success, we were the cradle of culture and I think we must pay respect to our history.
We are no longer the cradle of culture because we are engulfed by exteriority, technology and we no longer have independent thought.“
Languages, projects and the meaning of choices
You know so many different languages, you think you do Dreamers in other languages?
“Let's see how it goes, for me, writing a song in Spanish to convey in Italy is useless. Last year, one of my songs translated into Spanish was chosen by Atletico Madrid and it all made sense.
I would like to translate a lot of songs into Spanish but there must be a project that allows me to convey everything in the best possible way.
I can do it, I'm independent because the company and the label are mine, I can do what I want but does it make sense? The economic investment is of a certain type, making music costs money and I have to do some calculations on what I would earn if I went back to it.
It's already difficult in Italian, I've been here for 15 years and I'm on my tenth album and among all the things I do with my record business I create my own business but set it up in another country where few people know you who come to me?
This is my job, if one day I want to do it for the pure pleasure of it I will do it but at the moment it makes no sense, I have other priorities“

“The baby is born in April and we are caught up in this beautiful news, then I have the concert on May 4th and the summer starts. I can't stop with work. Another song will be released in conjunction with the birth and I will presumably dedicate it to her”
