Today the The Smile (Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner) announce details of new album entitled Cutoutsout October 4th on XL Recordings, and release two new songs “Foreign Spies” and “Zero Sum,” with a video for “Zero Sum,” directed by the Weirdcore artist. Previously released tracks “Don’t Get Me Started” and “The Slip,” are available as limited-edition 12” vinyl LPs at record stores.
Cutouts It is the third studio album by The Smile, after Wall of Eyes and the debut album A Light For Attracting Attention of 2022, and is their second studio album in less than a year.
The album contains 10 new tracks, was produced by Sam Petts-Davies and recorded at Oxford and Abbey Road Studios at the same time as Wall Of Eyes. The string arrangements are by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the album cover was painted during the recording sessions by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke.
Outside of The Smile, Thom Yorke has released the original soundtrack for Daniele Luchetti's film Confidenza and has announced solo tour dates in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan, Johnny Greenwood debuted a new work, “X Years of Reverb”, at the Octagon Chapel in Norwich, and is writing the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film, The Battle of Baktan Cross.
Tom Skinner He released Voices of Bishara Live at “mu” and is currently on solo tour.
