For almost thirty years the Earth Of Dylan Carlson they redefined the boundaries of rock, transforming the drone and the Sabbathian riff into a hypnotic mantra of slow guitars and monumental soundscapes. Absolute pioneers of drone and ambient metal, they remain a mutant and visionary force, capable of making the weight of sound a mystical experience.
From their debut in '91 to today, the most significant change in Earth's poetics is perhaps the trapper tattoo that Dylan Carlson got on his face. If we exclude the lineup changes of a project that has always hinged on the mystical and almost mythological figure of its leader, for years the band has been pursuing a discourse based on the eternal return of infinitely expanded riffs, at the crossroads between doom and drone.
Less paroxysmal than Sunn 0))) and more introspective than Sleep, Earth sublimates their personal declination of “ambient-metal” on stage – an ecstatic or exhausting formula, depending on your point of view – in a pagan ritual of apocalyptic volumes.
