A little over six months after their last visit to Italy in the setting of Ypsigrock, the BDMMs are about to return with two appointments in Milan and Bologna. The Hull quartet released its third album “Microtonic” at the end of February, followed by the acclaimed “I Don't Know” (2023), once again via Rock Action, label of the Mogwai. The pulsating and night atmosphere of “John on the ceiling”, a single included in the work, is representative of a new album that makes you make several steps forward to the project: having played in support of Daniel Avery and a rave at the Field Day have been decisive moments for the band's decision to incorporate more dance elements and of the Indietronic matrix in its sound. The ten songs of “Microtonic”, recorded with the longtime collaborator Alex Greaves and with the featuring of Syd Minsky-Sargeants of the Working Men's Club and Olivesque dei Nightbus, represent an evolution for the BDMM, who have embraced a wider spectrum of tones and atmospheres. However, their characteristic sound has not disappeared: the most guitar beginnings of the group have been an influence for various projects that are breaking through in the present, at a time when the Shoegaze is experiencing its strongest revival Since its birth in the 1980s, and now those guitars are incorporated into a wider sound palette.
