On Thursday, Jude Law was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his prolific work across a wide-range of films and shows including Sherlock Holmes, Closer, Fantastic Beasts, The Talented Mr. Ripley, the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Disney+ series, and of course, the 2006 rom-com classic TheHoliday.
After the ceremony, Law caught up with famed director Nancy Meyers, who along with TheHolidayalso wrote and directed The Parent Trap, Something's Gotta Give, The Internand It's Complicated. The director shared an Instagram video of the couple at lunch as she congratulated Law on his “well deserved star.”
“I don't think I've seen you since we wrapped TheHoliday,” she remarks, before taking the opportunity to ask Law what fans of the beloved film have long been wondering. “Speaking of which, I've seen you interviewed a lot, and they keep asking you, 'Is there gonna be a sequel?' What do you think?”
After taking a deep sigh, Law ponders, “Is there gonna be a sequel?” The twice-Oscar nominated actor then proceeds to drape a napkin over his head and a pair of sunglasses, echoing the memorable scene from TheHoliday.
Meyers presses, “Is that a yes, Jude?”
In response, Mr. Napkin Head mulls over the question by looking off into the distance and cryptically strumming a finger against his chin.
While a sequel confirmation has yet to be made, Law recently told ComicBook.com that he would only return for a follow-up to the film if Meyers directed. “That all lands in Nancy Meyers' lap,” he said. “So she would only do it if it was a really robust idea and then it would be whether the four of us would come back. I would be curious to see what they're all doing.”
The actor also delivered a devastating blow to fans last month by revealing that the Rosehill cottage in the film did not, in fact, exist. Whoops.
