The legend of rap, The gamehe returned in 2025 with the “The documentary 20th Anniversary Tour”. To celebrate the twenty years from the release of his fundamental debut album, The Game is keeping concerts in the United Kingdom and in Europe, yesterday he stopped at the Fabrique in Milan. The evening was heated by DJ Mastafive With Nadja, Mauryb, Inoki, Torment and Cry
The documentary, the story
At the time of launch in 2005, The Documentary made its debut first in the Billboard 200 and obtained the double platinum in the United States. With iconic tracks such as “How We Do”, “Dreams” and “Hate It or Love It”, the album marked the relaunch of the Hip Hop scene of the West Coast, a dominant time. The album obtained the platinum album in Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom and the gold disc in Germany.
The Game has established itself as one of the most raw items of the Hip Hop scene of the West Coast in the early 2000s, thanks to intense autobiographical stories and the urgent need to affirm its lyrical presence. His name became known with the release of his 2005 studio debut album, The Documentary, and in the following fifteen years he continued unstoppable to release a series of mixed mixtapes, singles and albums, including Lax from 2008, The Red Album of 2011 and Born 2 Rap of 2019.
The biography
Born Jayceon Terrell Taylor in Compton in 1979, The Game had a difficult childhood and, involved in drug dealing, decided to change his life dedicating himself to music only after being injured in a shooting during a domestic invasion. Inspired by NWA, The Chronic, Doggystyle, and from the classic albums of 2pac, The Notorious Big and Jay-Z, he began to rap in 2001. His sharp and bold freestyle attracted the attention of Dr. Dre, who in 2003 brought him to his Aftermath Records and produced his debut album. Published in 2005, The Documentary boasted contributions by Dr. Dre, 50 cents, Nate Dogg, Kanye West and Just Blaze, immediately making it clear that The Game was determined to overcome the geographical divisions then very heated.
In the following years, its numerous productions of mixtape and freestyle were characterized by rivalry with 50 cents. Dr. Dre, involved in the conflict, was held far from the second album of Game, Doctor's Advocate of 2006, and with the release of Lax in 2008, the contents of his music had largely evolved. After a period of withdrawal ads, The Red Album came out in 2011, followed the following year by Jesus Piece, a concept album with collaborations of artists such as Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, J. Cole and Chris Brown. At the end of 2012, Game founded the Blood Money Entertainment label with the Rapper Stat Quo, which saw its first single, “Bigger Than Me”, published two years later. The single was included in the 2014 album Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf, full of featuring and with the participation of Too $ Hort in the next single, “Or Nah”.
In 2015, The Game returned with The Documentary 2, an album full of stars including Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Nas, Drake and Q-Tip. After this success, Game also explored the television and videogame world with the documentary series in three episodes of Streets of Compton on A&I in 2014, and with the Block Wars mobile game in the same year, both accompanied by soundtracks. His eighth studio album, 1992, went out in October and reached the top of the independent ranking and the top R&B/hip-hop of Billboard, ranking fourth in the general top 200.
In June 2019, Game released “West Side”, the first single of his ninth album, Born 2 Rap, which ranked at number 19 of the Billboard 200, with participations of artists such as Dom Kennedy, Ed Sheeran, 21 Savage, Anderson .paak and others. The rapper had previously announced that he would be his latest studio album, but in 2020 he returned with the independent single “Ai with the Braids”, a tribute to the star Nba Allen IVerson with Lil Wayne.
In August 2022, Game released his highly anticipated drillmatic album. After the success of “Eazy” in collaboration with Kanye West, this 30 track album produced by Hit Boy boasted incredible collaborations, including Ye, Ice T, Big Sean, Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ Ign, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Asap Rocky, Chris Brown, YG, the former rival Meek Mill and many others.
