There is a distance that is not always seen. Sometimes it is internal, silent, difficult to explain. Joseph puts it at the center of his first recording project: it will be available from February 13th Metropolis Solitudethe debut EP released for Island Records / Universal Music Italia.
Singer-songwriter making his official debut with an organic work, Joseph builds a story that arises from a period of profound isolation, a phase of forced introspection in which he chose to distance himself even from the people closest to him. Not out of indifference, but out of defense.
joseph: An EP born out of isolation
Metropolis Solitude takes shape from a discomfort that is difficult to name: the struggle to appear fragile, the idea that a too severe look towards oneself ends up being reflected in the judgment of others. Isolation thus becomes an emotional mechanism, a protection built to avoid exposure.
In the six tracks that make up the project, the artist however invites us not to replicate that same pattern. The songs go through the relationship with others – from love to family – and suggest an opposite movement: not rejecting those who offer listening, affection, even harsh but sincere advice.
The title is already a declaration of intent. The metropolis, a symbol of encounters and possibilities, becomes the place where loneliness can amplify. An oxymoron that photographs a contemporary contradiction: being surrounded and still feeling alone.
The title track and the dialogue with loneliness
In the song Metropolis Solitude this concept becomes even more intimate. The song develops as a direct dialogue with one's loneliness, treated as a real entity, almost an interlocutor.
Isolation and abandonment to oneself become a form of self-protection, but also a limit. The personal story then transforms into an invitation to lower our defenses, to accept imperfection and to recognize that understanding and humanity can exist outside.
