On November 1, 2024, The Cure released the album Songs of a Lost Worldhailed by critics as one of the best works of their career. On the same night, Robert Smith and company played it in full, for the first and only time, at the Troxy in London in front of 3,000 people. Now that performance, as announced on the band's social channels, will become a film: The Cure: The Show of a Lost World.
The film is directed by Grammy-nominated director Nick Wickham and the film has been re-edited, remixed and remastered with new surround sound by Robert Smith himself. The release is scheduled for December 2025, but before that fans will also be able to see it on the big screen. In fact, a limited distribution has been organized in selected cinemas which will start on December 11th, with tickets on sale as early as November 20th.
The live performance includes 31 songs capable of recreating the gothic and hypnotic atmosphere of the English band in the midst of its creative rebirth. After the cinema screening, The Show of a Lost World will also arrive on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download, promising to become one of the most intense and complete testimonies of The Cure universe.
