«These are dark, disturbing and dangerous times, but don't despair: the cavalry is coming!». Bruce Springsteen thus announced the United States tour which, not surprisingly, will start from Minneapolis. There are 20 dates, from March 31st to May 27th, a “ride” that will take Springsteen and the E Street Band from Minnesota to Washington DC, from the symbolic place of the anti-ICE protests and the violence of the feds to the heart of American power. The slogan associated with the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour is “No Kings”, the same as the protests against Donald Trump's authoritarianism.
The tour, Springsteen says, is meant to be a “celebration and defense of America, American democracy, American freedom, the American Constitution and our sacred American Dream which are under attack by a would-be king and his rogue government in Washington, DC. You are all welcome, regardless of your beliefs, to come and join the United Free Republic of E Street Nation for an American spring of rock and rebellion. See you there.”
The American part of the Land of Hope and Dreams therefore promises to be the most political tour that Springsteen has done in the United States. It is not yet known if and to what extent the setlists will be different from those heard in Europe in 2025, when Springsteen used similar words introducing the spirit of the concert thus: «Tonight we ask all of you who support democracy and the best of the American experiment to join us, to raise your voice and oppose authoritarianism».
It is naturally expected to play Streets of Minneapolisthe protest song published at the end of January (we wrote about it here) after the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti of which a “radio mix” edited by Bob Clearmountain was released.
