As is known, we never leave the 80s alive. The most colorful decade of rock was also and above all the launching pad for many of the main new wave bands. A new generation of artists debuted by updating the sounds of punk and early post-punk according to a new style. But not only that. In that decade the foundations were laid for new genres that would explode with greater vigor in the following decade, from industrial to shoegaze up to the grunge movement that would dominate the 90's. And often the seeds were planted in the indie world alternativesonly to then blossom on a level as well mainstream.
The online magazine Radio An excellent opportunity to discover (or rediscover) the first steps of groups that, shortly thereafter, would become institutions in the entire history of rock: U2, REM, Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Psychedelic Furs, Echo & The Bunnymen, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine and many others.
