The 4K remastering of “Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem” is great news for fans of the film and Daft Punk's music. This anime masterpiece, created in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto, offers a unique experience that combines animation and music, transforming the “Discovery” album into a compelling visual narrative.
The story of an alien band kidnapped by an evil individual is a fascinating journey that explores themes of freedom and creativity. Daft Punk's music, with its iconic songs like “One More Time” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, adds emotional depth to the entire experience. It's interesting to note how Shinji Shimizu described the era when “One More Time” dominated radio and the pride of seeing his own animation take shape.
The possibility of seeing the film in theaters, even if for a limited period, represents an unmissable opportunity for anime and music fans. All that remains is to find out which theaters will screen it and enjoy this cinematic experience.
Originally released in 2003, “Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem” was created by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation. “Interstella 5555” is an animated film based entirely on Daft Punk's 2001 album, “Discovery.” Explains Shinji Shimizu of Toei Animation, who produced the film: “'One More Time' was playing all over the city at that time! I felt so proud that I wanted to shout to people on the street: 'We're making his animation now!' Since it is a “visual album”, the film has often been cut into individual music videos and until now it has been very rare to be able to see it in its entirety in cinemas.
On the occasion of the event at the cinema simultaneously in more than 40 countries, the album “Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition” will be re-released in a limited edition with the original artwork of the Japanese edition, the stickers and the Daft Club card, which has become a real collector's item after its original release. The limited edition will consist of 5555 gold vinyls, 5555 numbered CDs and 25,000 black vinyls.
To accompany the re-edition of the film screening album, a merch special, limited edition, dedicated to the Crescendolls, the animated group at the center of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. The items are available on the official Daft Punk store.
One of the songs from “Discovery”, “Veridis Quo”, can also be heard in the Chanel N°5 global advertising campaign entitled “A rendez-vous” directed by Luca Guadagnino, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
