Maybe forever it is a sweet and delicate ballad in which Selmi explores the desire for an eternal bond even if, as he sings in the chorus with his voice breaking, “it's scary”. The desire to love, to be loved but also the fear – precisely – of harming oneself and the uncertainty about what will be in the future are present.
The song tells at the same time all the power and fragility of relationships, reminding us that sometimes for love we are willing to risk everything, perhaps forever.
On choosing the song for Sanremo Giovani 2024, Selmi tells: «This song had been there for some time, with me, waiting to understand what I could do with it. I recognized a truth in it, and for this reason I thought that he would be the one to accompany me in this new experience”.
Selmi will present Maybe forever competing on Tuesday 19 November on Rai2, in the late evening from 10.45pm.
