When the singer’s heel broke mid-performance, she ripped it off and tossed it off the stage
Months into the Eras tour, Taylor Swift has every moment of the show memorized and prepared. She runs such a tight ship — there are rarely ever hiccups in her performances from herself or her dancers. But during a recent tour stop in Rio De Janeiro, a mild disruption came courtesy of none other than Swift’s bejeweled Christian Louboutin shoes.
The musician opens each show with the Lover era, kicking the night off with hits like “Cruel Summer” and fan-favorite deep cuts like “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.” It was only a few moments into the concert that Swift found herself kicking off something else — the heel to her boots. Early in the show, she snapped the already broken heel from her shoe and tossed it off of the stage.
It’s not quite the show of affection that Swift displays when she gives away her hat during “22,” but one Brazilian Swiftie went home with a crystal embroidered piece of her red bottoms. Lipinho, the fan who caught the heel and the attached red sole, shared his victory on Instagram, writing: “Crianças ganham chapeu na Eras Tour. Adultos ganham… um salto alto. Thank you @taylorswift for this… ahn… gift? 😂👠”
Swift powered through the rest of the Lover, channeling Margot Robbie’s Barbie with her foot arched in the shape of the heel. Thanks to the Eras tour design, she only had to get through that first era before heading backstage for one of the more than a dozen outfit changes she makes during the 3-hour long concert.
