“TERRE RARE” is the new album by Subsonica, available from Friday 20 March for Epic Records/Sony Music Italy. It is already possible to pre-order it at this link. The album was anticipated by the singles “Radio Mogadishu” And “Time in me”, waiting to celebrate the thirty-year anniversary of his career with “CIELI SU TORINO 96-26” – four special sold out concerts.
It is the album of the journey, of the sonic opening towards new real and imaginary geographies. It is also a journey through time but above all into the present time, with its wounds and its dreams, between its deepest shadows and its glimmers of humanity. The Rare Earths explored by Subsonic they are full of new sounds, more organic than in the past and of instruments collected during a trip made by the band to the other side of the Mediterranean.
After ten albums and thirty years of life, “Rare Earths” inevitably also represents a passage of age, symbolized here by the Tuareg Cross used as a graphic basis to create a new star, always present in various progressive declinations of the graphic sign of Subsonic. The Tuareg Cross (or Cross of Agadez) is an ancient talisman that represents freedom, protection and tribal identity, with the four points symbolizing the cardinal points, the desert and orientation and is given as an amulet in the transition to adulthood.
“Rare Earths” is a “long playing”, a record that takes its time, that doesn't chase the hit but that lets the songs emerge and glimpse through a sound fabric embroidered with the intention of being recognizable and at the same time unpredictable, like any self-respecting adventurous journey.
A clear example of this intense musical work is the single “Time in me”of which the long version was released on Friday 6 February for Epic Records/Sony Music Italy. For i Subsonicit is the most worked and meticulously chiseled song, note for note, that they have ever written.
This is how they explain the creative process: «The song tries to unite very distant worlds and integrate them into a single flow. The analogue accents of a Prophet 5 synth that haunt the entire song, scrupulously set on the syncopation of the bass line, come from the “dancefloor” planet. While the vocal line belongs to a parallel universe of distant, melancholic, fluctuating and slightly existentialist Italian songs. Furthermore, the melody was designed specifically to alternate moments of tension between small dissonances and more reassuring connections. To make the listener lose his way and welcome him back an instant later, until the final explosion. An experiment, a seamless balance that we achieved only after many attempts. It's a type of writing that we had already started experimenting with “Universo”.»
THE Subsonic are preparing to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of their history with SKIES OVER TURIN 96-26four special live events at OGR Torino. Already sold out the dates – produced by Live Nation – scheduled for March 31st, April 1st, 3rd and 4th 2026.
SKIES OVER TURIN 96-26 it does not only represent theawaited return of the band to the live dimension. In fact, each ticket will also give you the opportunity to access one engaging anthological exhibition in the OGR Cathedral entirely dedicated to the history of the group – with photos, memorabilia, stage costumes, instruments and equipment from the first albums, posters and much more -, as well as a dj sets in which, at the end of each concert, Subsonica will take turns at the console.
Everything is fine show will present a different setlist, with a bracket of historical songs that will vary from evening to evening. A unique and unrepeatable opportunity to retrace 360°, all together, 30 years of music.
