A document that tells the activities of the SMS orchestra, chamber music workshop within the Sinfonia Music School of Lucca, by the composer Stefano Giannotti, active since 2012, initially without a specific name. The SMS denomination dates back to 2017 also as an acronym for Symphony Music School. Since its origins, the SMS orchestra is configured as a ensemble Mixed teaching that includes breath instruments, arches, guitars, harp, keyboards and voices. “The video scattered music 2015-2025 documents the group's activity since its origins, with interviews with the musicians and the director of the school, Massimo Salotti, more several extracted from concerts and rehearsals. The age of members varies from 15 years to 40 years of age, but the fundamental feature is that 90% are musicians for passion and non -professional. I thought of creating this video to document a time that perhaps soon there will be no longer, many of them graduate, sometimes they change the city, they start working “, explains Giannotti. And he continues: “In more than ten years the bet was to propose and be able to make an un oballive musical repertoire, made of songs that generally in a music school do not study, to face texts sometimes difficult and uncomfortable for the beautiful thought, unpredictable melodies, arduous times and rhythms; In short, go deep into music, not only as an escape, but also as a political-cultural commitment; All always with fun and curiosity. So here over the years we have faced many genres, including post-punk, psychedelic music, progressive rock, baroque and Renaissance compositions, with occasional incursions in contemporary experimental music (Cage, Riley, Reich) “. The current repertoire of the SMS orchestra includes, in fact, among others, works by Battisti/Panella, Velvet Underground, Robert Wyatt, Tuxedomoon, David Bowie).
