“My love for football is well known, but it is really special for me to be able to become the owner of the Swansea City club”. With this phrase, Snoop Dogg has officially joined the group of co-owners of the Swansea City Afc, the Welsh club that plays in the English Championship, the second division (i.e. Serie B) of British football.
The announcement came through the official channels of the company, which confirmed the artist's entry into the American guidance consortium that includes – among others – the player Luka Modrić, recently purchased by Milan. The move is part of a larger club relaunching project, back from a loss budget of over 15 million pounds in the last season.
Snoop Dogg has declared that he wanted to actively contribute to the development of the team and the local community. «The history of the club and its city resonate me. We are talking about a club and a city with a strong proletarian pride. They are underdogs, just like me. I am proud to be part of the Swansea City and I will do everything to help the club ». Words also confirmed by Tom Goringe, CEO of the Club: “Dogg is enthusiastic about this project and will help us continue to promote the club with an audience as much as possible”. The reference is to the fact that, before this announcement, the rapper had laid with the new team kit on social media.
The rapper's arrival will also be celebrated with a mural commissioned to the artist Hasan Kamil, who will be installed near the Liberty Stadium as a symbol of this new phase for the Welsh society.
