The SMASHING PUMPKINS they released the new album “Aghori Mhori Mei“: the album arrives a few weeks after the European tour that saw them play in front of over 200,000 spectators, it is currently available for streaming, while in physical format from November 2024.
'Aghori Mhori Mei', the thirteenth album by the Smashing Pumpkins, is a return to the dark and powerful sounds of the past, inspired by the perfect sound of the band in the early 90s; where guitars, bass, drums and cutting vocals dominated the compositions of the legendary Chicago band.
Just last year Pumpkins released 'Atum', a triple album and sprawling rock opera that marked the band's return to the sound of the '90s, a sequel to the unforgettable 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' from 1995.
The 10 tracks of the new album mark a return to the urgency of the beginnings, written mainly by Corgan, with the help of his faithful companions in the studio. Jimmy Chamberlin (drums) and James Iha (guitar).
“While writing the new album I was intrigued by the tired axiom, ‘You can’t go home again,’” Corgan observes. “Which I personally found to be true in form, but I thought, what if we gave it a try anyway? Not so much as a sentimental look back but rather as a means of moving forward; to see if, in the balance of success and failure, our early ’90s way of making music could still work.”
William Patrick Corgan's Pumpkins have sold over 30 million albums worldwide and won Grammy Awards, MTV VMAs and many other awards. Their discography is vast, highlighted by the multi-million selling 'Gish' (1991), 'Siamese Dream' (1993), 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' (1995), 'Adore' (1998), 'Machina/The Machine of God' (2000) and the rest of their discography.
