THE Simple Mindsthe Scottish rock band led by Jim Kerr, opened the 2024 edition of the Mantova Summer Festival last night by performing a sold-out concert in the suggestive Piazza Sordello.
“Global Tour 2024” – Simple Minds in concert in Italy
After the huge success of the 2022 “40 Years Of Hits” tour, welcomed with great enthusiasm by critics and audiences, Simple Minds are back to perform on the most prestigious international stages and with four dates in Italy of their new “Global Tour 2024”.
Last night, Thursday 4th July, Jim Kerr's band held the last of the five concerts scheduled in Italy.
After the spectacular dates in Milan, Rome, Bari and Senigallia, Simple Minds inaugurated the new edition of the Mantova Summer Festival with a show that has been sold out for weeks.
Simple Minds and the Love for Italy
In recent days, Jim Kerr commented on the band's strong bond with our country in a long post on his Instagram profile: “We love to tour in all the countries that have kindly taken our music to heart. But our affection for Italy, where Simple Minds are on tour right now, is definitely on another level”.
The artist further added: “Above all, it is the friendships created over the years that have led me to call Italy home. Born in Scotland, reborn in Italy.”
Words of deep affection for our country that the audience immediately reciprocated by not being able to stay seated on their chairs but by getting up and singing along with the bands the songs that made them famous especially in the 80s.
On more than one occasion Jim interacted with the audience by speaking in Italian, involving them in the show thanks to his charisma and his being a true stage animal.
Among the songs most loved by the audience, of course, the timeless “Don't You (Forget About Me)” could not be missed, which was sung with heartfelt participation by the entire square.
