On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Once Upon a timethe multiple album of Simple Mindson October 17 a special edition will be released in 5 CDs (a reduced version of the 2016 Super Deluxe).
Originally published in October 1985, Once Upon a Time has become the most successful album of the Simple Minds to date, selling two million copies in two months, reaching the first place in the United Kingdom and the top ten in America. He produced four singles in the Top 20 and started a world tour that lasted fifteen months.
Once Upon a Time has all the characteristics of a classic album of the 80s, with the incredible production of Jimmy Iovine and Bob Clearmountain and the unmistakable style of Anton Corbijn for the cover.
In the wake of the world success of the world success “Don't you (Forget About Me)”, recently joined the Billions Club on Spotify, Once Upon a Time proved to be the album that pushed the Simple Minds towards stratospheric peaks of artistic and commercial success. The album also contains the individual “Alive and Kicking”, “All the Things She Said”, “Sanctify Yourself” and “Ghost Dancing”. To promote the album, the Simple Minds undertook their longest and most impressive tour, which started from the United States in October 1985, which saw them perform in Europe, in the United States, in Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The first three singles extracted from the album, entered the top 10, were precise indicators of the success of the concerts, and the fourth, “Ghost Dancing”, whose profits were totally donated to Amnesty International, was published at the end of the tour. The 5 CD edition to be released on October 17 is composed of the original album, bonus track, including the original versions and extensses of “Don't you (forget about me), single edit, mix 12”, b-side, rare tracks and the concert “Live in the city of light”, as well as a 36-page booklet with rare photos, interviews with Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill and a Guide to the trace album for trace.
