The Lonely Island and Seth Myers Podcast will launch on Monday
Saturday Night Live fans looking to get a detailed breakdown on how “Dick in Box” got made are in luck — Seth Meyers and the Lonely Island trio of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer will be explaining the story behind every legendary SNL digital short they ever made in a new podcast.
The comedians announced the new podcast — aptly, if not a bit basically, named the Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast — on Friday, and the first episode will be released on Monday.
“Episode by episode we’ll discuss how each short was created, what the response to it was at the time, and what impact, if any, it still has today,” the podcast’s instagram announcement said. “We’re so excited to relive our time at SNL and reminisce on the nearly 50-year-old show. Along the way we’ll talk all things SNL from guests, fellow cast members, and favorite live sketches including many that never aired!”
The podcast hopes to bring more context on the Lonely Island‘s clips that defined the early YouTube era of the internet, with famed shorts like “Dick In A Box,” “I’m On A Boat,” “Lazy Sunday” and “Jizz In My Pants.
The Lonely Island And Seth Meyers Podcast joins a long line of Rewatch podcasts that have aired in recent years as stars and creatives capitalize on fans’ nostalgia and desire for behind-the-scenes info about their favorite shows. Suits co-stars Patrick J. Adams and Sarah Rafferty announced earlier this week that they’d be hosting a rewatch podcast for the show on SiriusXM, while a Curb Your Enthusiasm pod hosted by Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman debuted in February.
