subsonica – Terre Rare, an album of travel and the present time
Rare Earths it's a record that moves on multiple levels. It is a real and imaginary, geographical and internal journey, but above all a work that deals with the present time, with its wounds and its possibilities.
THE Subsonic they choose a more organic sound than in the past, enriched by instruments collected during a trip to the other side of the Mediterranean. The result is a sound fabric that doesn't chase the hit, but takes the time to build a deep, layered and unpredictable listen.
After ten albums and three decades of career, Rare Earths it also represents a passage of age. It is no coincidence that the graphic imagery of the album revolves around the Tuareg Cross (or Cross of Agadez), an ancient talisman symbol of freedom, protection and identity.
The four points of the cross recall the cardinal points, orientation in the desert and the transition to adulthood. From this symbol a new star is born, which fits into the visual tradition of Subsonica, always linked to the concept of journey and transformation.
