Puerto Rican star shares reality-bending new visual for Playa Saturno favorite
Rauw Alejandro brings a bit of thunder and lightning to the new music video for “Diluvio,” a track off his most recent album, Playa Saturno.
Directed by Martin Seipel and El Zorro, the video finds Alejandro in the throes of a feverish love affair that seems to bend space, time, and reality. Though largely set in a spare room, filled only with a mattress, speakers, and records (do you really need anything else?), the clip eventually leaps out of these confines to a steamy scene on a motorcycle and a stormy one brewing in the sky.
Alejandro released Playa Saturno back in July, the album serving as a “spinoff” of his futuristic 2022 LP Saturno. The LP notably features several unexpected collaborations, including songs with Mexican corridors tumbados singer Junior H, reggaetón great Ivy Queen, and Spanish pop star Miguel Bosé. Alejandro also linked up with fellow Puerto Rican legends Jowell y Randy and Ñego y Dálmata on the album.
Back in March, before releasing Playa Saturno, Alejandro dropped RR, a collaborative EP with his then-fiancé Rosalía. The couple, however, ended their three-year relationship in July, not long after the release of Playa Saturno. In August, Alejandro surprise-released an extremely heart-on-sleeve song, “Hayami Hana,” about the breakup.
Amidst all of this, Alejandro has spent much of this year on the road in support of Saturno and Playa Saturno. He wrapped a European run in September, and he’s set to officially close out the tour with a homecoming show in Puerto Rico on Dec. 15. (He’s also set to return to the stage early next year with a headlining set at the Vibra Urbana festival, taking place Feb. 17 and 18 in Miami.)
