The new album by. started off with a bang Marracash (here the data of the debut on Spotify) Peace is overa project launched surprisingly last Friday December 13, 2024. A record that closes the trilogy started by the “King of Rap” in 2019 with Personmaking things clear again with unfiltered lyrics and quotes, musical and otherwise.
There are many musical references found in the songs on the album: from the one on the iconic video of All is full of lovesong by Bjork of 1999, in I fell in love with an AIa Savior Of Kendrick Lamar of 2022 (in Pentothal), from Gimme Morefamous hit by Britney Spears of 2000, up to Cruella – Nervesone of the most beloved songs from his 2019 album.
This album also contains samples taken from some iconic songs, but not only that. In the title track Peace is over we find the famous one Florence of the never too remembered Ivan Grazianiwhile in Alone the refrain of the song with which, in 1990, i Pooh they won the Sanremo Festival, Lonely men.
There is also a sample of Mondaya song by the Sardinian singer-songwriter Bluemstage name of Clear Florisused in I fell in love with an AIseventh track of the album.
And if in Person there was a lot of cinema in the quotes, here we find literature, with Human, too human. A book for free spirits Of Nietzscheand the world of anime with Attack on Titan.
Obviously, among the many themes addressed in the album, from loneliness to machismo, from the poverty of the current music scene to artificial intelligence, there are real digs.
Here are some:
In Power slap jokes about his long-time enemy, Fedezwhich with Lazza launched the drink in 2023 Bohemian:
“I came back again to finish the job
with seven zeros on my renewal
too much liquidity that I should make a drink”
Also attack on Ferragnez and their showing off their children on social media, a practice they stopped practicing after the separation:
“Real and boring or incredible but fake
die online and always live inside a render
that reality disappoints all promises
turn your back like the children of influencers”
Obviously Marracash he doesn't even spare the rap scene and, more generally, the current Italian music scene. Always in Power slap raps:
“I don't ask for favors and I don't do them anymore
how many fucking juices do you do on the Calippo tour
I don't look for nostalgia and I don't chase the new
remaster, remake, reunion, reboot”“And every year the bar is lowered
I try to do limbo, with my head touching the ground
I remind you, child, who you would be with this slap
without Sanremo, without the summer, without Petrella”
A clear criticism towards current music, increasingly homologated and devoid of content, in which the artists always turn to the same authors, such as the very good David Petrellato be able to launch with an effective song at the Sanremo Festival or in the summer catchphrase competition. In the meantime, the bottom of the barrel is being scraped between reunions of bands and couples and reissues of records with the addition of a few songs.
And if for years there has been talk about the fact that Esse Magazineonline magazine of Antonio Dikelewho has been under a management contract with for a few years Marta Donàwas on very close terms with Marracash And Guéapparently this is no longer the case, given that the magazine is accused of sponsoring all rappers without any critical sense:
“Same topics and same references
that's fine because they make all the platinums
awarded on TV, all well done in Esse Magazine”
As with any rapper worthy of the name, anti-political bars cannot be missing. In Crashes:
“Government of fascism that says prehistoric phrases
they think it is enough to fill the void with order”
And again:
“Bad intelligence, influence
Fuck evil Musk, I sold the Tesla”
In short, in the same piece Marra he doesn't tell them and condenses his thoughts on the current Italian government but also on the billionaire in one sentence Elon Muskfrom next January an integral part of the United States government alongside Donald Trump.
