Jeremiah Brent joins the cast as the show’s interior design expert after Bobby Berk’s exit
The Fab Five are back — or at least a new iteration of them are. In a new trailer for Queer Eye Season Nine, culture expert Karamo Brown, food expert Antoni Porowski, grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, and fashion expert Tan France are joined by newcomer Jeremiah Brent, who will be taking on the role of interior design expert. Brent replaces Bobby Berk, who left after Season Eight.
Set in Las Vegas, Season Nine will feature an array of heroes, from a struggling former showgirl to a dedicated librarian. In the trailer, the Fab Five bring their transformative skills to Sin City, and Brent tears up at the result of their work. “Is this what it feels like every time?” he asks his co-stars.
The trailer also acknowledges the cast changes. “The world is changing, we’ve grown and changed, even our cast is changing,” Brown says of the revamped Fab Five. “I feel like I’m finally home with the Fab Five,” Brent adds.
Brent came on after former interior design star Berk left the show in 2023. Although abrupt, Berk’s departure initially seemed amicable. However, a 2024 Rolling Stone investigation revealed a different picture. “Van Ness’ behavior allegedly contributed to the rift within the Fab Five, with two sources saying it led to certain members of the group — including Berk — reluctant to shoot scenes with Van Ness,” Cheyenne Roundtree wrote in March after speaking to 10 Queer Eye production members and sources.
Van Ness responded to allegations of abusive on-set behavior in June 2024, calling the article “overwhelmingly untrue and done in bad faith,” but admitted, “I know that there were times where I could have been better.”
Queer Eye season 9 will be available on Netflix Dec. 11 with 10 episodes.
