The dispute between continues Piotta and the Tenco Club relating to the Tenco plates. The artist has in fact decided to warn the Club which in turn chooses to respond with legal action.
The controversy arose when the top five candidates for each category for the 2024 edition were announced, top fives from which, despite the 50 votes received from the press, the rapper singer-songwriter's album, 'A night of infamywas not present.
The reason? The album was nominated in the category Best Album in Dialect or Minority Language but it did not meet the requirements and requests. Found here the words of Piotta And here the next reply of the Tenco Club.
Today's news is that the singer-songwriter, who among other things has received support from theAcademy of Cruscaof the Municipality of Rome, by various cultural associations and even by Michele Piacentini, Spokesperson of the family I'm tryingsent a formal notice to the lawyers Tenco Club and the request for access to the documents.
The reply by means of a press release from Club Tenco to Piotta
The CLUB TENCO communicates that it has given the mandate to the lawyer. David Perrotta to firmly respond to the warning of the singer Tommaso Zanello, aka Piotta.
The CLUB TENCO affirms the absolute conformity of its actions with the Regulations Tenco plates and reiterates the consequent groundlessness of the position expressed by the singer, moreover, through media attacks seriously capable of generating discredit to the image of the association.
The CLUB TENCO highlights that the Regulation of License plates I'm trying requires, as an essential requirement for participation in the category “Best album in dialect”, that the participating works must contain at least half of the songs belonging to the category in which they are competing; therefore, in dialect.
The album presented by the singer Piottawith his self-candidacy for the Targhe, is absolutely lacking in the required requirement, since, with the exception of just one song and a few words for each song, the songs presented by Piotta they are all sung – almost entirely – in Italian, and not, instead, through the prevalent use of dialect.
The CLUB TENCO continues by highlighting that the banal listening of the songs highlights the singer's deliberate choice to express in Italian and not in Roman dialect – in this album – the prevalence of the characterising expressions.
The Regulation and the application form are very clear on this point, where it is literally specified that:
- the “Best dialect album” section must “contain at least half of the songs that are pertinent to the category in which they compete
- the choice of category must comply with the regulation
- If you choose the wrong category, you risk having your votes cancelled during the control phase, at the end of the voting.
- The choice of category is the responsibility of the person uploading the file
- Club Tenco will verify the correctness of the categories after the first round of voting
- If a disc is mistakenly nominated in the wrong category, it will be eliminated from that category and any votes it may have received will be lost.
In this context of clarity, the objection raised by the artist is revealed to be absolutely unfounded and damaging to the image of the association; the absolute legitimacy of the actions of the CLUB TENCOwho limited himself – as obliged, also out of respect for the other participants – to duly complying with the regulations.
