The version with the audio edited by Steven Wilson's out of One of These Days of the live Pink Floyd in Pompeii. It is taken from the film Pink Floyd at Pompeii McMLXXII Which will be in Italian theaters from 26 to 30 April (at this link the list) and which is the version of the 1972 Adrian Maben film restored by a team led by Lana Topham in 4K and Dolby Atmos.
The rooms linger on Nick Mason, with a band on the head, shirt with rainbow butterfly and gong behind it. In this interview, the drummer told us that it was not a choice: «I heard that they had lost some coils of the shot, in particular of that song, and the only shots that remained were those of the room focused on me, so I was the protagonist more or less for the whole song. But maybe that's not the case, maybe Adrian only thought I was very good ».
The live album will be released on 2 May Pink Floyd at Pompeii McMLXXII. The audio in 5.1, like the mix of the film, is curated by Steven Wilson. “Since my father has made me washing the brain as a child making me listen to The Dark Side of the Moon In loop, Pink Floyd have become my favorite band. They are my Beatles, an integral part of my musical DNA. The first time I saw Pompeii It was from a wide copy in a local cinema. I was struck by the free energy and exploratory music of four musicians who embodied the notion of intellectual cooling. It was an honor to get the soundtrack to accompany the magnificent restoration of Lana Topham: it seems that the film was shot yesterday ».
