In case you are looking for even more hot latitudes, you could evaluate the idea of taking a plane to head under the Sun of Mexico, a country where you would probably run the risk of running into the members of a very young Speed Metal formation, armed with axes and chains, as well as covered with steel as well as well suited to a reality belonging to the most sharp of all the strands of the classic metal.
The Phantoms (not to be confused with the older American training) are substantially four very young boys from Guadalajara, to whom initially it would be watching with a nostalgic smile, due to their presentation a little stereotype of a Speed/Thrash Band for novice; Those who remember the first photos of the Sodoms will know what we refer to.
However, it is enough to wait for the launching of “The Tower of Seth” to start understanding the extent of the product in question: “Tyrants of Wrath” is in fact a work that does not aim to innovate much, even trivially compared to the rough anchor “Handed to Execution” debut, but still maintains the intention, passion and ability to put a healthy metal casting, aimed at the reality, Recent vulture and cruel force, but also of the best known Whiplash and Deathhammer.
The tracklist is perfectly consistent with these references, as confirmed by the stinger rhythms and an aggressive use, not to say rudimentary, guitars; In this regard, we can see the execution that is still a little bitter execution by the musicians, especially as regards the cleaning of the solo phrases and a little valued vocal sector, which is sometimes almost swallowed by the ferocious instrumental base.
Fortunately, the charge of individual songs thinks about raising perception, as there is really a lot of material to break and pogare with the iron between the teeth, without however completely forgetting the melodic component, as confirmed by Siabolato as “Thunderbeast” and the long “Nazghul”, as well as by a particular “dance of the spiders” in its use of authentic dissonances for musical purposes.
There is also room for some different parenthesis than the general trend, such as a more epic and cantabile “Nimbus”, which in fact presents itself as a song of a completely different kind, including item, more in line with what is proposed for example by the Epic Metaller Brocas Helm; Not to mention the disturbing piano interlude “Nocturnal Opus 666”.
Needless to say, the sense of flatness in some situations manifests itself, and was inevitable with square styles such as those taken into analysis, also due to an excessive duration for a product similar to this, whose lineup, unless the quantity of derivations and surprises otherwise justify, often finds its golden formula around eight/nine tracks.
Nonetheless, it is also true that compositional goodies are not lacking, however slight they may seem, which bodes us in a good future for guys who present themselves with bloodthirsty and ignorant, but that seem to conceal more than some refined ambitions, under that dominant blanket of metal pulviscolo.
At this point, it will be necessary to see if they choose to specialize in a well -defined style, or if instead they want to dare by equipping the formula of personal and recognizable references. Regardless, our curiosity has been well raised.
