Nicholas Galasso is one of the most talented artists of the new generation and we have grown to love him in recent years thanks to his interpretation of the character of Pirucchio in the series Sea Out.
Nicolò, however, is not only an actor. He recently released his first single as a songwriter We’ll see you arounda piece written years ago but recently revived precisely because the experiences gained over the years have greatly changed it:
“I’ve always listened to music, I’ve always liked having that feeling that in a few minutes one can tell a story and an emotion.
I started writing early, 4 or 5 years ago, and I wanted to tell stories using my passion for singing which I used to do privately, with friends, and now it’s public.
If one interprets a song, it is for someone else. A piece becomes a public emotion because you write it not for yourself but for others.”
THE SINGLE
We’ll see you around it was written and recorded with a very strong force and emotion. The voice of Nicholas Galasso she seems broken with emotion:
“I wrote it three years ago and then I reworked it over time. The need stemmed from the fact that we were confined during the pandemic, and I wanted to tell a story that flashed through my mind.
Everyone sees their own story, I simply wanted to tell my vision of this story that talks about a boy who lives in a certain condition that he hasn’t chosen and doesn’t know how to move within this situation. It’s not autobiographical, it’s not about me.”
Between music and acting, which language is most congenial to you?
“I start writing songs with guitar and voice, I feel them like this and I imagine them in a place where there is someone singing and someone listening.
On the other hand, acting has another language but they are similar because they both tell of experiences that can either be lived or not. I always prefer imaginary ones but reality, when it is imagined, is more powerful”.
What has changed from when you wrote the song to today?
“I relived an experience with the character that I made and that’s what made me pick up the song and made me think ‘why not’. Why not play something I’ve always kept to myself? I felt the urge to get this song out of the drawer”
What feedback have you received that an actor like you is now making music like your other colleagues at Sea Out?
“Lots of positive feedback. It is something beautiful that music, cinema, theater are forms of expression. It’s a gift, I see it that way, and I have the impression that certain things come out by themselves when someone needs to say something. I wanted to tell this story.
I try to be meticulous in what I write, it’s something that arises, a need, a necessity and I also wanted to show another side”
Staying with music, what does the future foresee? Will you continue with other singles, is there an album?
“There’s a project, there are some songs that will come out again and then we’ll see. I don’t actually think about things to do first, I think that when there is something to tell, it is told. I don’t have a set pattern.”
