NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended having Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Goodell then responded to the controversy of recent weeks by saying that the Puerto Rican artist's show “will unite the country” and “bring people together.”

As reported by the newspaper Deseret NewsGoodell responded by calling Bad Bunny “one of the greatest artists in the world.” “It's one of the reasons we chose it,” he explained. «But there is also something else. He understood what it means to perform here. This stage serves to unite people, to bring them closer with creativity and talent. Past artists have done it. Bad Bunny knows this and will put on a great show.”
Before the game, Charlie Puth will sing the national anthem and Brandi Carlile will perform America The Beautiful.
