Wes Scantlin, leader of the Puddle of Mudd, is found again at the center of the controversy after a perlomeian chaotic performance during a charity concert held on March 1 at the Daytona Bike Week, Florida. The singer, however, has an unprecedented justification: he claims to have been drugged before going on stage. The event, organized with the aim of raising funds for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, saw the band as headliner and also included a charity auction for an autographed guitar, which yielded 5,000 dollars.
However, the positive atmosphere lasted a short time. When the Puddle of Mudd started playing, the fans immediately realized that something was wrong. Scatlin appeared lost, altered, and definitely not in the condition to face a live.
On the Facebook page of the club Broken Spoke Saloon, numerous comments from fools have appeared, many of which have pointed the finger at the altered state of Scantlin. “An embarrassing show,” wrote a user, while another has ironized: “Luckily the auction took place before their performance”.
The next day, the frontman was approached out of the club and filmed in a video published on social media. Visibly tried, he admitted in no uncertain terms: “I suck … but I was drugged”. He then accused his former bassist Sean Sammon of giving him a substance secretly, concluding the video with an insult and a gesture towards the camera. This story adds to a long list of controversial episodes that have marked the career of Scantlin, including interrupted concerts, a notorious performance of About a girl of the Nirvana and various problems with the law, including a situation that required the intervention of the Swat last year.
Below, the video with his reaction and an extract of his disastrous performance.
