Music for Change: the 21 semifinalists of the sixteenth edition announced which were selected from 893 talents of which 269 went to the casting phase.
The high number of subscribers places, once again, Music for Change Like the most accredited European music prize with a civil background among the national prizes with the most candidates.
Let's find out who the participants were:
- 40% of the applications come from the South and Islands, 37% from the north and 23% from the center;
- 32% are represented by solo women, 44% by soloists men and 24% from bands;
- The age group prevails between 25 and 34 years (43%), followed by the 16/24 (29%) and 35/44 (20%) bands, while 8%of candidates are over 45 years old;
- The youngest member is 16 years old, the most “elderly” 68.
The juries of Music for Change and the categories
The semifinalists were chosen by three different juries:
- Casting jury Composed of the manufacturer, arranger and sound designer Taketo Goharafrom the journalist, fashion and trends and musician expert Francesca Delogufrom the communication manager of Milan Music Week Marialuisa Rovetta and by the musical critic Michele Moninabeyond Gennaro De Rosa Artistic director of Music for Change Prize and president of Music against APS mafias which for 16 years has been working to keep the relationship between art and ethics high in its essence of performing community.
- Alpha/Zeta jury formed, by young people between 10 and 25 years of age who have requested together with the students of a circuit of schools of the whole national territory coordinated by the Association Free against the mafias sector School & training.
- Social jury It was possible to vote for artists online from 10 to 19 April
It should be noted that in the registration phase the candidates presented a song that fully represented their authorial and compositional style expressing their preference on one of the social issues of Music for Change.
The semi -finalists divided by the 7 themes will be called to compose the song in the residence “Sound Village”
