THE Mumford & Sons announce a new album, “Prizefighter”, to be released worldwide on February 13, 2026. This is the band's sixth album of unreleased songs.
The album was produced together with Aaron Dessner of The National at his Long Pond Studio in New York.
The album comes after the release of their new single, “Rubber Band Man” in collaboration with Hozier.
Just seven months after the release of “RUSHMERE”, the band's highly anticipated comeback album, released in March 2025 and going to number one in the UK, Mumford & Sons are taking full advantage of a very prolific period in terms of composition, now announcing another studio album which will be released shortly after the previous one.
Made together with Aaron Dessner, with whom the band had already collaborated for the third album “Wilder Mind”, “Prizefighter” captures the band at their most open and instinctive. In just ten days, they have written songs worthy of more than one album, creating a collection that feels deeply personal, instinctive and spontaneously collective. Marcus Mumford's lyrics tackle themes of resilience and commitment, sung with a mix of confidence and urgency.
For Marcus, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane, the sessions and recordings were about rediscovery. Days spent writing in Hudson's coffee shops and nights spent around the kitchen table on Long Pond have resulted in songs that feel 'raw' in the best sense of the word, lively from early recordings and the joy of simply making music together again. Invigorated, rejuvenated and in the best shape of their lives, “Prizefighter” embraces and reflects all this energy and enthusiasm with 14 songs full of light, shade and everything in between.
This openness also extended to the study door. Mumford & Sons have welcomed collaborators into the studio, calling on the likes of Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, Gigi Perez and the same Dessner. Their presence underlined the band's intention to work and connect with other artists.
Marcus Mumford: «We feel we have reached our peak as a creative force. We're putting everything we have into it and using all our experience to embrace exactly who we are. Today we feel comfortable with ourselves. And 'Prizefighter' is the result of this commitment: serious and playful, sometimes wounded but always full of hope. We're not done yet.”
“I hope and believe that we are at the beginning of something that we don't want to miss. I am more excited than ever to be part of this band.”
Since the release of “RUSHMERE“, Mumford & Sons have spent much of their time touring the United States, alternating between a series of sold-out arena concerts and a return to the tour they began over a decade ago on the US railways, this time accompanied by the likes of Maggie Rogers and Noah Kahan. Following the release of the new single, the band will return to the UK and Europe for a run of 22 dates concluding with two concerts in their hometown at London's O2 Arena.
The band is expected in Italy with two concert events on November 19th at the Unipol Arena (Casalecchio di Reno-Bologna) and at the Unipol Forum a Milan.
