Morrissey's Saturday night concert in Dallas ended prematurely after too many fans came on stage to hug him and shake his hand. In the ensuing turmoil, a security guard limped out.
You can see it in the video below taken at the Music Hall at Fair Park. During the encore First of the Gang to Diesome fans went on stage to get closer to the singer, something that often happens at Morrissey concerts. When the first ones manage to hug him and touch him, many others go on stage to do the same thing, while the security guards try to protect the singer from too much enthusiasm.
The concert ends abruptly like this (according to setlist.fm it was the 21st song, so already towards the end, Morrissey usually does one or two encores, in Dallas he would presumably have done one more song at most, ed.). The singer is taken backstage, a security guard limps out.
“Stage invasions are common at Morrissey concerts, but this one was particularly chaotic,” he told the Manchester Evening News George Allen of the Morrissey and Wine podcast. “It's unclear whether Morrissey decided to leave or whether he was pushed backstage by the crew, but either way the fans went too far this time.”
«Going up on stage for a handshake and a hug is fine, but considering that one of the crew members got hurt this time they went further. For some it was disrespectful.”
Morrissey did not comment, but linked to the article this morning TMZ who tells what happened.
