Their name, which in Russian means “the houses silenced”, perfectly reflects their melancholy and gloomy sound, inspired by the Soviet post-punk of the 80s. The trio – composed of Egor Shkutko (voice), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synthesizers, Drum machines), and Pavel Kozlov (bass, synthesizers) – four years after the start of their rise with “сray) (бspius Hundreds of thousands of videos and reaching #2 in the Spotify Global Viral 50 ranking and #1 in the United States Viral 50 rankingarrives in Italy with its recent fourth studio album, “Belaya Mopy”, published in September 2024 via Sacred Bones.
The disc marked an evolution in the band's sound, moving from the lo-fi and gloomy atmospheres of the first albums to a more refined and digital production, inspired by the ABM and Synth Pop of the 90s. While embracing a more modern and stratified sound, the Molchat Doma maintain theirs Introspective and melancholy style, testifying to the beauty that can emerge even in the most difficult moments.
The post-Punk/synth pop Molchat doma group, born in Minsk, Belarusia group, in 2017 and basic time in Los Angeles, has always embodied a bructist aesthetic, similar to the gray and imposing architectures that adorn the covers of their albums. Although their music looks cold and industrial, there are human hearts that beat under those foundations. After the overwhelming success of 2020, the trio has experienced conflicting experiences: from the trauma of having to leave the native minsk to the glory of playing in concerts sold out all over the world. This trip took them to Los Angeles, where they worked on their new album.
The band is made up of Egor Shkutko (voice), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synth, Drum Machine) and Pavel Kozlov (bass, synth). Their first productions, including the album “Etazhi”, gained fame through word of mouth, bringing multiple reprints to Europe. In 2020, they signed for Sacred Bones, publishing their third album, “Monument”, which climbed the rankings.
The viral success came in 2020 when the track “сray (борис рыжий)” became popular on Tiktok, reaching millions of views and appearing in hundreds of thousands of videos. This prompted the song to second place in the Spotify Global Viral 50 and in the first place in the United States Viral 50, bringing “Monument” to number 21 in the Billboard 200.
In 2022 and 2023, the Molchat Doma conquered the world with Sold out tours in North and South America, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, performing in large venues such as Terminal 5 in New York and the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, as well as prestige festivals such as Coachella and Spring.
