There Milan Music Week In the 2024 has reached its eighth edition and less than a month after the start, the program and calendar of panels on current topics, future scenarios, training workshops, interviews, parties, concerts, DJ sets and much more is starting to take shape.
The week chosen for this edition which will transform Milan into the city of music is from 18 November to 24 November and will have as main district the Sforzesco Castle and the entire center of the Milanese city, including the two Dazi of the Arco della Pace.
Furthermore, for the third consecutive year the Artistic Direction is entrusted to Nur Al Habash. The graphic design for this edition is based on a concept that celebrates music as a universal artistic expression that never ceases to accompany us, profoundly influencing our way of interacting with emotions, the community and the environment around us.
MILAN MUSIC WEEK 2024: THE DETAILS
There Milan Music Week it is a project ofDepartment of Culture of the Municipality of Milanpromoted by AssoConcerti, Assomusica, FIMI – Italian Music Industry Federation, NEW IMAIE – New Mutualistic Institute for Artists, Interpreters and Performers SIAE – Italian Society of Authors and Publishers, and is organized by Butik srl Impresa Sociale.
The Castello Sforzesco will be the headquarters of this edition where from Tuesday to Friday there will be various panels on the music business, interviews and special performances. Among the first events announced is the talk “From Woodstock to Marrageddon” with guest Linus (presented by AssoConcerti), the interview with The List Representative (presented by Rockit) and a live special by Pop in the Sala della Balla inside the Museum of Musical Instruments.
Other panels will be:
- “How music works: platforms and compensation to artists” (presented by NUOVO IMAIE)
- “The artistic value of soundtracks” (presented by SIAE)
- “Tourism and live shows: a combination for a new tourism in Italy” (presented by Assomusica)
- “Music publishing survey: presentation of the first research on global and Italian music publishing” (presented by FEM, EMusa, ANEM and SIAE)
As regards the Dazio di Ponente of the Arco della Pace, it will be active from Tuesday to Sunday. Through the website of Milan Music Week 2024 it is possible to discover the first meetings:
- “A European agenda for music. How European policies influence discography” (presented by FIMI)
- “Music that matters. But how much does it matter? The sector study on the Italian recording industry” (presented by AFI and Fondazione Assolombarda)
- “What are independent labels for in 2024?” (presented by PMI)
- “The AI revolution in the music rights market: risks, ethics, new tools” (presented by SCF)
- “How to make the master of a song profitable with the related rights” (presented by Evolution)
The Dazio di Levante will instead be dedicated to evening parties, also hosting the opening party (Tuesday 19 November) and the closing party (Sunday 24 November).
Among the main locations involved in the central district there will also be the Parco Sempione Library, ideal for the presentations of music-themed books such as “Bassa Fideltà. Lo-fi music and escape from capitalism” by Enrico Monacelli.
Then, the Civic Aquarium of Parco Sempione will host the experience “Underwater Sounds: Sounding the abyss. CAM Sugar the journey of the German musician Alexander Hacke in search of the variety of Turkish music (presented by MUBI).
Triennale Milano, however, will be the main location for the opening day of Monday 18 November and will host exclusive content on Thursday 21 November organized together with some of the Digital Content Creators of the Milan Music Week like Deer Waves, with “How does Milan sound during the MMW? Live workshop with Phenoalthea”, and nss magazine, with the talk “Fashion show sounds”.
As always, from the central district, the music will reach the whole city. Among the first confirmed events is the Public Service Broadcasting concert at Arci Bellezza and the talk with the band from the new Venetian music scene Post Nebbia (presented by Fondamentali Podcast).
