“MicoJoao & Os Macacos Loucos Vol 1.” is an EP that collects some of the songs written by MicoJoao and band between 2022 and 2023. Five songs composed in smoky rehearsal rooms, damp garages, dilapidated apartments, and recorded in a basement in the historic center of Bologna.
Life episodes that tell their daily experiences and those of their friends: boys and girls who cannot follow their dreams and aspirations because they are slaves to their work and forced by society to live alienating routines.
Through a continuous exchange between Portuguese and Italian and a sound that is difficult to label and ranges from Brazilian rhythms toindie and to theR&Bthe Bolognese band creates a bubble of leisure from the frenzy of contemporaneity.

Who is MICOJOAO?
“I am MicoJoaoa Calabrazilian who grew up between São Paulo and Cosenza, who lives in Bologna with Os Macacos Loucos. With my ramshackle band we sing episodes of everyday life, putting to music our saudade of contemporaneity. Through a continuous linguistic exchange between Portuguese and Italian and a mix of Brazilian sounds, funk mixed with indie and R&B, our sound recalls the sea, in calm and storm, tropical fruits, spiciness and collective ailments”.
Grew up among the skyscrapers of São Paulo and the squares of Cosenza. MicoJoao is the son of Brazilian modernity and Italian devotion to la dolce vita. His pieces arise from the need to give shape to everyday life saudade of contemporaneity. The project was born in 2022 with a sold out live show in Bologna together with other artists such as Francesco Morrone, Davide Amati And Leo Gassman, organized by the collective Marley Sessionsjoining it later.
Over the course of the year, among the porticoes of Bologna, he meets i Macacos Loucosmusicians from various areas of Italy who form the core of the group. Together with this new adoptive family they begin to write songs that mix the two souls of MicoJoao, the Calabrian and South American, with varied sounds that are contaminated by the different musical experiences of the band members.
Os Macacos Loucos are a group of musicians who have become a close-knit group of people, a collective of artists of various genres, a family where everyone collaborates actively and creatively. In 2023 the band begins to focus on writing new songs to be released the following year as part of their first EP “MicoJoao & Os Macacos Loucos Vol. 1” which will see the light in December 2024.
The use of Portuguese mixed with Italian in a continuum switch linguistic allows the band to crystallize a thousand nuances and meanings that blend with the music. The result is a disturbing rhythm that transports the listener to new shores. Sounds that recall the sea in calm and storm, a mix of Brazilian sounds, funk, mixed with indie and R&B. Flavor of tropical fruits, spicy and collective ailments.
