Michael Keaton has a frank message for men backing Donald Trump and his MAGA cheerleader, Elon Musk.
In a recent video shared to Instagram, Keaton addressed Trump and Musk supporters — “guys mostly” — who “are thinking of attending a rally with Musk and Trump.”
“They don't really respect you, they laugh at you behind your back, they think you're stupid,” Keaton said in the clip. “They don't want to hang out with you. They have nothing in common with you. They're not your bros.”
He continued, “When Trump years ago said 'I could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and they'd still vote for me,' basically what he is saying is that these people are so dumb and so stupid they'd still vote for him. They have no respect for you, trust me.”
Musk has garnered intense backlash following his takeover of Twitter, using his platform to engage with antisemitic conspiracy theorists and promote their content. The billionaire publicly endorsed Trump after the July assassination attempt, and gleefully joined Trump onstage earlier this month, jumping around and falsely claiming that “the other side wants to take away your freedom of speech.”
On Wednesday, The Lever reported that due to a provision buried in the tax code, Musk could reap massive benefits from his alliance with Trump and gain one of the largest personalized tax breaks in American history if the former president wins the 2024 election and follows through with his promise to appoint Musk to a top government post.
Meanwhile, Trump has left his 2024 campaign's get-out-the-vote operation to a Super PAC bankrolled and directed by Musk. Republican operatives and those close to Trump have informed him that Musk's organization is failing to galvanize voters in key states.
Musk's recent sentiments toward Trump are a drastic change from previous years. Before the 2016 presidential election, Musk told CNBC that Trump was “not the right guy” and didn't “seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States.”
Trump, similarly, has shot bitter words at the Tesla CEO in the past, calling him in July 2022 a “bullshit artist” for supporting the former president's opponents in 2016 and 2020. Although Trump has continued to trash Musk behind his back, he desperately needs the billionaire's support as Vice President Kamala Harris' fundraising campaign continues to surpass Trump's numbers in the 2024 presidential race.
