After participating in Friends 2023 by Maria de Filippi and the previous two singles Requiem And Further Down, Mezkal returns with the new single Cry Baby (distributed by ADA Music Italy), available from Friday 27 September on all digital platforms.
MEZKAL, “CRY BABY”
On the occasion of the release of the single, Mezkal reveals: «I'm happy to go back to releasing songs and above all to come back with something made 100% by myself. My life has changed a lot since the last single and now I know I can put my all into it. I can't wait for this song to come out.”
Cry Baby presents English sounds very close to the Brit-rock imagery of 2013. There are distorted but reverberated guitars and the soul/hip hop drum groove which gives the song a fresher identity which helps it, at times, to break away from the rock.
Like the previous singles, too Cry Baby was produced and arranged by Mezkal same.
In addition, Mezkal anticipates us: «Cry Baby it's the first song of a new parenthesis, preceded by a long break where I committed to closing an album I'm still working on.”
And about the single, instead, he says: “With Cry Baby I tried to underline a breaking point, musically speaking, with what came before. New language, new influences, new stories. The single speaks of love, but of a contextualized love, a love set in a difficult Milan and in a complicated lifestyle, wanting to make people understand how very often, despite love, two people can destroy each other because they are consumed by everyday life, from work, from the city in which you live.”
