Thus begins the post that Metallica dedicated to a fan, called Lorne and nicknamed Viking, who died in the pit during the show at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada.
“He passed away due to his health condition. He left his body to face the next adventure. It's sad when it happens, but it's touching to think that he spent some of his last time on Earth with us, hopefully happily. Our condolences to the family and friends of Lorne “Viking”. The exact cause of death is unknown. In a Facebook post, a friend, from whom Metallica took the photo, said Lorne was carried out of the so-called snake pit on a stretcher and given unsuccessful CPR. “He was a gentle soul. We all called him Viking. He will be so terribly missed. Please put on a Metallica song and raise a glass to the Viking.”
