Mark Hoppus has decided to get naked in his new book Fahrenheit-182in which he retraces some of the most difficult moments of his life, including those related to mental health after breaking the Blink-182 in 2005.
The singer and bass player told how the abandonment of Tom Delonge, which took place after over ten years of career together, deeply marked his life. “When the band went to pieces, it's as if I had lost everything,” he writes. «I no longer had a direction, I had lost confidence in myself and I didn't know who I was. I happened to hear one of our songs in a shop and I had to get out of running ».
The next period was marked by a descending spiral. “I touched the bottom. I realized how bad I myself when the idea of ending it was beginning to seem reassuring me. I thought: 'If things get too worse, I can always end it'.
It was then that he decided to ask for help: «I started seeing a psychiatrist and taking drugs. They gave me some breath, the mental space to tell me: 'Mark, stop being a asshole. “
After a first reunion in 2011, the Blink-182 crossed other ups and downs, including a second outing of Delonge in 2015. But in 2023, historical training has finally recomposed, giving life to the ninth studio album One More Time ….
Fahrenheit-182made with the collaboration of the journalist Dan Ozzi, was released on April 8.
