The pop star performed her final Christmas Time show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn
After canceling three shows on her Christmas Time holiday tour, Mariah Carey made her grand return to the stage at Brooklyn's Barclays Center last night. The performance marked the final concert of the tour, drawing celebs like Rihanna, who got her breast signed by Carey mid-show.
In a video posted to social media, Rihanna invites Carey to sign her boob with a red pen. “What do you want me to write?” Carey says in the clip. “Mariah,” Rihanna replies. “What the fuck do you think? Whatever you want. Wow, this iconic.” She then takes the microphone and announces, “Mariah Carey is signing my tit, y'all.”
Carey's Christmas Time tour was scheduled to hit 20 cities in November and December, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of her 1994 album Merry Christmas and its hit single “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” She called off her shows in Newark, New Jersey, Belmont Park, New York, and Pittsburgh due to ongoing illness. She canceled her Dec. 11 gig in Pittsburgh just hours before the concert was set to begin.
At the time, Carey said, “I've come down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight's show. I love you all so much.” Some fans, however, didn't learn about the last-minute cancellation until they arrived at Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena. “We didn't get anything telling us that it was canceled,” one family that traveled from Youngstown, Ohio told WTAE. “We didn't know until we arrived and we saw a paper you know when you get to the entry to get your ticket for it there was a paper taped on.”
Earlier this week, she confirmed she would perform at the Barclays Center for the final night of the tour. “Lambs, thank you for making my #Christmastime so special ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I've loved singing with you every night, and I can't wait to see you all tomorrow in Brooklyn for the last show of the tour ✨🎄.”
