Among the majestic and history-filled ruins of the lost city of Canale Monterano (Rome) the new Mardi Gras music video, “Don't Touch The Sinner”. The suspended atmospheres of Casale di Bonaventura and the ancient medieval walls become the ideal setting for this intense and enveloping symphonic rock piece, directed by Manuela Kali.
In the video, two mysterious presences – Rey (Wolf) and Paloma (Horse) – chase each other in a game of glances and silences, accompanied by the interpretations of Simone De Bianchi (Like a cat on the ring road, Accattaroma) and Angelica Aureli (Romulus). A continuous search that hides a deep restlessness, while the music grows in a hypnotic and timeless sound flow.
Closing track of the concept album “Sandcastle”, “Don't Touch The Sinner” tells “the story of invisible men”, of those who live poorly hidden and lost in their malignant narcissism, at the orders of those who are not seen for who they really are.
The story of “Sandcastle“is also narrated in the graphic musical of the same name. A journey between shadows and redemption, where even in the deepest silence “all the secrets come to life”.
After the sold out at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Mardi Gras will bring “Sandcastle” to the stage of San Raffaele Theater in Rome on 29 November 2025 at 8.30 pm, for a show that combines music, narration and visual effects.
It will open the evening Mark Gearyone of the most beloved Irish singer-songwriters, often alongside Glen Hansard and Jeff Buckley, who will reunite with Mardi Gras after the collaborations on the songs “Adam'n'Eve” and “Gingerman”. Pre-sales available on VivaTicket.
MARDI GRAS
Mardi Gras was born in Rome in 2006inspired by the name of Creedence's latest album Clearwater Revival and the famous New Orleans carnival. In over fifteen years of activity, the band has built an international path that blends rock, soul and Irish atmospheres, sharing the stage with artists such as Glen Hansard, Mundy, Jack Savoretti and Billy Bragg. They represented Italy at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, collaborated with producer Stuart Epps (Elton John, Led Zeppelin) and finished their third album “Playground” at Abbey Road Studios in London.
Their fourth album “Sandcastle” (Underground Symphony, 2024) – elected album of the year by the readers of Onda Rock – is an intense concept set in New Jersey in the 80s, amidst bullying, narcissism and the desire for redemption, also accompanied by a graphic musical.
Mardi Gras were included by Reader's Digest among the “seven European bands to listen to”, thanks to their “fascinating blend of pop, rock and soul that reaches straight to the soul”.
