Maneskins rush album review by Umberto Saved.

This morning I run to the station, no one could give me a lift. I arrive in a hurry, I miss the train, I have to wait an hour for the next one. I sit on a bench, there is a teenage girl sitting next to me, she has headphones, the music she listens to is very loud, she seems to have shared headphones, I immediately recognize the piece, I had been listening to it for days to review it.
Listen to one of the songs contained in the new album by Maneskins, RUSH!shakes his head and spells out the inscription precisely as if it were a slap in the face “I’m a scum, real scum, but I’m good at this/We’re not Punk, we’re not Pop, we’re just music freaks“.
AND KOOL KIDS the song in which the band reminds us of Punk between the 70s and 80s that my father defines as “the real Punk”. She scans and articulates the singer’s words in a different way, almost transforming her timbre, and the ironic response that the band reserves to all criticisms is contained in the verse sung by the girl.
But I wonder, thinking back to that girl, how much can they really find a place to express their energy, those and those that are intensity bombs? The different ones, the ones out of the choir. Those with so many things to say that perhaps have not yet found a way to make them understood; Those who can’t sit still and yet would really like to discover and learn; The ones that have entire worlds inside, but not enough tools to show them to us.

This latest recording project of theirs is an affirmation of the will to be everything they want, because they have had the good fortune and the talent to meet the right people, who have given them that magical word which is “Possibility”. Thanks to this strong little word, today we have an album that manages to range between genres in search of new definitions. Maybe we need to start right from the two continuous faces that animate the group, the underlying contradiction that structures this new musical project of theirs. It will be through “the complete opposite of everything” which we will find a way to analyze.
They are romantic with the modern dedication of love that is IF NOT FOR YOU but also cynics, pushing the pop accelerator, in telling in SUPERMODEL the world between brilliant glitter and tragedy that is the life of models.
They make us jump from the first note to the last with GOSSIPfirst single from RUSH!with Tom Morello as a guest of prestige, but they also make us melt and excite with the tormented THE LONELIEST.
Intimate and open to tell about themselves in THE END, to describe their life in this last year. There are suitcases, stages with crowds, airports and hotels that are always different. So much beauty but also so many difficulties, which however make us forget in the end OH MAMA which is rhythm and refrain that is difficult to drive away.
Then there is the unusual MARK CHAPMANa title that takes its name from the famous murderer of John Lennon which tells the story from the perspective of a murderer, guilty of depriving us of the immense and unforgettable talent of John.
But in their statement, how do the kids who listen to their music and who try to think differently feel in our places?
Those who have great potential but expressive methods in contrast with the ethics that want to see them still and in silence?
This life doesn’t give them the tools to channel this energy they feel inside. He doesn’t know how to wait for those who have different times, he doesn’t know how to open up to those who have new words.
This life rejects them.
THE Maneskins, perhaps, they remind us of this, what it means to have this complex age. Being between twenty and thirty, however beautiful, is never easy. You are no longer a kid, but you punch life to be an adult. Could this be the reason for so much criticism?
