Bruce Springsteen has published “Blind Spot”, second extract from “Tracks II”, the ambitious collection consisting of seven unpublished albums, coming on June 27th.
The song, produced by Chuck Plotkin and Jon Landau, with the battery programming entrusted to Toby Scott, comes from the “Streets of Philadelphia Sessions”, recorded in the period following the “Human Touch/Lucky Town” tour, directly in the boss's house in New Jersey. At that moment, Springsteen was experiencing more electronic sounds, between synths, loops and muffled atmospheres, which recall the mood of the famous single made for the Jonathan Demme film. Tommy Sims, Zack Alford and Shane Fontayne also attended the processing of the piece.
“Blind Spot” addresses the themes of doubt and betrayal. “It was what I was focusing on at that moment,” Springsteen explained in a note. “I don't know the reason. Patti and I was passing a good time in California. But sometimes a song attracts you, and follow it. 'Blind spot' was that thread to be pulled, and inspired the entire album”. The album from which the song comes initially scheduled for spring 1995, but was set aside when Springsteen decided to bring together the and street band. “I thought it was time to go back to doing something with the band, to awaken that identity. But 'Streets of Philadelphia Sessions' has always remained in my heart. During the period of the show in Broadway, I even thought of publishing it as a project in its own right. I never throw anything away, but every now and then I put something aside”.
Much of the material of “Tracks II”, including “Blind Spot”, dates back to the 90s – a decade often considered a “silent period” for Springsteen, who after “Human Touch” and “Lucky Town” published only “The Ghost of Tom Joad” in 1995. But the boss denies this reading: “I often read that the 90s were not like that. worked all the time “.
Bruce Springsteen will open his treasure chest of unpublished songs with an imposing collection that brings together seven albums “lost”, for a total of 83 songs, of which 74 never published before. The project, entitled “Tracks II: The Lost Albums” (Sony Music), will be available from June 27 and will offer fans a unique journey through unexplored chapters of his long career so far (here the preorder).
“The” lost albums “were complete records, some already mixed, but never made public. For years I have played this music for myself and for a few close friends. Now I'm happy to be able to finally share it with you. I hope you like it,” Springsteen said.

The songs, written between 1983 and 2018, are part of seven unreleased albums: “The Garage Sessions '83”, “Streets of Philadelphia Sessions”, “Faithless”, “Somewhere North of Nashville”, “Inyo”, “Twilight Hours” and “Perfect World”.
The collection will be available in a limited edition in the 9 LP, 7 CD and digital formats, with an exclusive packaging for each album and a book bound in 100 pages fabric. The volume includes rare archive photographs, detailed notes written by the essayist Erik Flannigan and a personal presentation signed by Springsteen himself.
Also on June 27, “Lost and Found: Selections from the Lost Albums” will also be published, a selection of 20 songs extracted from the collection, available in 2 LP or 1 CD format.
The first taste of this musical treasure is already available: it is “Rain in the River”, a song taken from the album “Perfect World” (listen to it below).
The production work of “The Lost Albums” was curated by Springsteen together with Ron Aniello, the sound engineer Rob Lebret and the supervisor producer Jon Landau, with recordings made in Thrill Hill Recording Studios in New Jersey. “Being able to record directly at home every time I wanted to explore a variety of different musical directions,” said the boss. The box reflects this creative freedom with heterogeneous sounds and atmospheres: from the project for a soundtrack never made with “Faithless”, to country songs with Pedal Steel Of “Somewhere North of Nashville”, up to the stories set on the border with Mexico in “Inyo” and the noir-architestral suggestions of “Twilight Hours”.
