Lil Durk was arrested in Broward County, Florida and is currently being held without bail on murder-for-hire charges. The Chicago rapper – whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks – is being held in Broward County Jail.
According to the Chicago TribuneBanks' arrest in Florida comes after five other Chicagoans — Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston — were arrested and charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy. The charges are linked to the murder of Lul Pab, Quando Rondo's cousin, which occurred in 2022. All the suspects have ties to OTF, a Chicago hip-hop group formed by Lil Durk.
Only last month Banks celebrated on social media the fact that his criminal record had been definitively cleared: “My past has been cleared” he wrote on X, “I'm more of a criminal. Who would have thought? I want to thank everyone who helped advance my vision. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” In fact, in 2019 he was charged with attempted murder for having participated in a shooting. Other charges also included aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. By 2022, however, all charges had been dropped.
